Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church
Mooresville, NC
Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church congregation had outgrown their existing 1960’s facilities. A large increase in church membership warranted the need for new worship and education space. This need resulted in the design of this Georgian style Sanctuary / Education Building as the latest addition to the church campus.
The sanctuary design provides space for both Traditional and Contemporary Worship having seating for over 1,050 in the congregation with an additional 75 seats for choir members. The design includes provisions for audio/visual systems that support both types of worship services.
The sanctuary has congregational seating that includes a balcony with a series of open stairways leading from the main worship area along with an elevator for accessibility. A large narthex allows gatherings between services with a welcome center for visitors.
In addition to the Sanctuary, the facility design includes a choir practice room, classrooms for preschool through adult, a courtyard for outdoor gathering, a covered drive, a covered walkway building connector, site improvements with a large parking addition, expanded playground, new landscaping and the addition of campus outdoor lighting. The new building provides over 33,000 square feet of new space.
